A TRUE WORKHORSE

Boasting the traction of an all-wheel drive 8x8 driveline, IVECO parabolic front suspension, IVECO cantilever rear suspension and the well-regarded IVECO Cursor 13 engine available in 480 or 520hp outputs, the Astra delivers powerful performance that makes light work of the toughest conditions.

The Astra is equipped with differential locks and hub reduction on all axles, and with its 48 tonne GVM and 70 tonne GCM, is capable of handling the largest of loads. Fitted with the ZF Eurotronic II 16-speed automated transmission, the Astra is also available with the optional Allison 4700 full automatic.

POWER AND TORQUE

The Astra is powered by IVECO’s Cursor 13, 6 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, with the engine available in two sets of tune. Both engines provide strong power and torque from low in the rev range, ensuring the trucks can handle the demands of the most difficult applications.

Cursor 13 engine features include:

  • Engine available in two sets of tune - 480 hp/2300 Nm or 520 hp/2400 Nm.
  • Engine fitted with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce emissions.
  • Paired with ZF Eurotronic II 16-speed automated transmission.

OPTIONS FOR EVERY APPLICATION

IVECO pairs the Astra’s Cursor 13 engine with a ZF Eurotronic II automated transmission for maximum control. The ZF Eurotronic II is a 16 speed transmission with electronically controlled clutch engagement. While driving in automated mode, the Eurotronic transmission automatically selects the most ideal gearshift according to such inputs as load, road speed and road incline. It also offers the flexibility to manually select gears should the application and track conditions require.

As an alternative, if your specific application requires a full automatic transmission, owners can select the optional Allison 4700 transmission.

Utilitarian and no-nonsense from the outside, inside, the Astra cabin boasts many of the comfort and ergonomic features IVECO delivers in its road-going models. Unique design features allow for the heavy duty tasks the Astra is built for including air suspended driver’s seat, 4-speed ventilation and heating with air recirculation, compressed air ‘quick coupling’ for cab cleaning, and washable and fire-proof internal cab panels.

Frame and suspension

GENUINELY TOUGH AND CAPABLE

The IVECO Astra starts tough from the ground up, with a strong, high tensile steel C-Section chassis reinforced with cross members. With its flat chassis rails, the Astra is suitable for fitment of a wide range of bodies, with minimum need for modification.

The Astra features permanent all-wheel drive to all 8 axles and is fitted with parabolic front leaf springs and rear IVECO cantilever springs providing excellent load carrying ability, comfort and off-road performance. The suspension features a standard stabiliser bar on the 1st and 4th axles.
